Commanding Officer’s Fitness Series

Throughout the year, 13 races come together to make up the Commanding Officer’s Semper Fit Series. Run along the shoreline of the Pacific Ocean, up mountainous terrain, and even through swampy waters, the challenge is always new and exciting. Run one or run them all, it’s something you’ll never forget! The Commanding Officer’s Series is open to the public.

2017 Races

Keiki Tradewind Triathlon

6:30 am Saturday, August 26, MCBH Hangar 101

This exciting children’s only triathlon will consist of 2 age divisions. The 7 to 10 year olds will start with a 100-meter open water swim, followed by a 3-mile bike ride and finish with a 0.8 mile run. The 11-14 year olds will start with a 200-meter open water swim, followed by a 6-mile bike ride and finish with a 1.2 mile run, ending at Hangar 101. This race is open to the general public. Tradewind Triathlon

6:30 am Sunday, August 27, MCBH Hangar 101

Come join the Marines and Sailors of MCBH for the Tradewind Triathon! Start your morning with a brisk 500 meter open water swim in beautiful Kaneohe Bay, followed by a fast paced 11 mile bike ride, finishing with a scenic 5K run that ends at Dewey Square. Sunset Flight Line 5K

5:30 pm Friday, September 22, MCBH Between Hangar 101 and Hangar 102

Start your weekend off with a scenic 5K “Pau Hana” run along the air field of Marine Corps Base Hawaii. Participants will have the rare opportunity to run on the flight line and runway in this family friendly event. The race will start and finish between Hangar 101 and 102 and will consist of an evening race offering breath taking views of the Ko’olau Mountains and Kaneohe Bay. The race is open to the general public! Online registration closes Monday, September 18, 2017 11:59pm HST. All civilians (Non-DoD) must register 5 days prior to the race. Splash and Dash Biathlon

7:00 am Saturday, October 14, MCBH Flight Line Kaneohe Bay

Start your Saturday morning off with a brisk 500 meter swim in beautiful Kaneohe Bay and finishing with a scenic 5K run to The Officers’ Club and back. This race is open to the general public. Start time is 7:00am HST. Online registration closes Tuesday, October 10 at 11:00pm HST. All civilians (Non-DoD) must register 5 days prior to the race. Do you have what it takes to win the Hawaii Armed Forces Joint Race Series? Schofield Barracks, Marine Corps Base, Kaneohe Bay and Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam join forces to create two separate 3-race running series in 2017!

First Series:

  • King of the Hill 5K at MCBH, January 21
  • Kolekole 10K at Schofield Barracks, March 11
  • Ford Island Bridge Run 10K at JBPHH, April 1

Second Series:

  • ARMY 10 Miler at Schofield, July 15
  • Hickam Half Marathon at JBPHH, August 19
  • Sunset Flightline 5K at MCBH, September 22 (this is a Friday evening race)

The TOP THREE MEN AND WOMEN to complete ALL 3 races in a series with the fastest times will be awarded the Fitness Series medal! Medals will also be awarded by Age Group, to the TOP man and woman who complete ALL 3 races with the fastest time. There are two separate series during 2017. Awards will be given out at the end of each 3-race series.

All DOD ID card holders and sponsored guest are eligible to enter.
MUST HAVE VALID DOD ID CARD TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE SERIES AWARDS. (AD/FM/RET/RES/DOD)

Base Rules: Participants may need to register vehicles at the MCBH Front Gate (H3 entrance). Drivers may be required to present Driver’s License, vehicle registration, safety check and proof of   insurance. Please obey all posted speed limits, and follow guidance. Driving Instructions: Enter MCB Hawaii through the H3 Front Gate. Follow special event signs which will direct you to event location and parking.
